capital [of Cuprus] in the NT era, Salamis was still arguably the most important city...a large
Jewish population, with several synagogues, dating perhaps to pre-Roman times."
Summary: When Paul and Barnabas arrived in Salamis they immediately began preaching
in the local synagogues.
